I Want To Know The Future
By Linda C Dipman
She shouted with absolute conviction each word, “I want to know how my life is going to turn out before it
happens! Didn’t Christ know that He was destined to be crucified on the cross? Didn’t He know everything
about His life before it happened.” I was shocked over her request wondering just how serious she was
about knowing the complete picture of her future.
Just thinking about her words was enough to get my mind roaming over my past and pulling out every part
of my life I would have changed if I had only known! I’m sure that by knowing what happens next, I would
have fled without going through anything at all! Instead of telling her outright how crazy her demands
sounded, I looked at her and calmly stated, “To know the future would drive you insane!”
Her words clarified how she was thinking in her heart when she said, “I want to know if cancer is going to
effect my children, my parents or even myself? I want to know if my husband will ever get a good paying job.
I want to know so I can let go of the fear of the ‘What ifs’ surrounding my life!” Tears flowed from her eyes,
as if her need to understand why life was so hard could all be explained by just knowing what was going to
happen next.
I understood where she was coming from, but unfortunately knowing the future suffering of anyone is not
something you can prepare for in advance. Your only defense against evil is understanding that God will be
on your side when bad things happen!
This is the reason that it is so important to understand the purpose of this world. The only way to
comprehend your future is to start at the beginning of time with Adam and Eve. When Adam ate the apple he
allowed the perfection of the earth to be corrupted by sin. God allowed Satan to become the god of this
world in order to teach people the difference between good and bad.
Isaiah 14: 12-14, “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down
to the ground-mighty though you were against the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will
ascend to heaven and rule the angels. I will take the highest throne. I will preside on the Mount of Assembly
far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.”
Isaiah 14: 16&17, “Everyone there will stare at you and ask, ‘Can this be the one who shook the earth and
the kingdoms of the world? Can this be the one who destroyed the world and made it into a shambles and
demolished its greatest cities and had no mercy on his prisoners?”
My human body trembled as my mind grasped the spiritual dimension of the unseen world that molds
every human life. An unseen plane of Spiritual beings that mingle in the lives of weak human men, who think
that they are in control of the outcome of their lives. A world where Lucifer rules the generals, who command
their evil angel officers, who oversee the demon soldiers whose only goal is to control every event in a
person’s life for bad.
This is the state of our world and to leave the knowledge of God out of our life is to completely surrender
to the evil will of Satan. This is the reason why it is so important to understand the purpose behind our world.
This is the reason why we must grow in a our thinking through mature spiritual knowledge. Wisdom that
teaches us how to fight against the wicked spiritual forces who infiltrate our mind and corrupt our thinking.
Galatians 4: 3, “In the same way, we too were slaves of the ruling spirits of the universe before we reached
spiritual maturity.”
We are born into this world as infants. Some of us had good nurturing parents who taught us about God
and some did not. Nevertheless each of us comes to a time in our lives when we reach spiritual maturity
where God reveals to us His desire for our lives. Maturity that we must have in order to resist the will of
Lucifer.
Coming to understand the principles of God does not happen all at once. This is why it is so easy for
Satan to influence us to sin. Satan is the great tempter and deceiver. He wants to keep us from
understanding why we need God principles in our lives. He wants to lead us down paths that corrupt our
thinking with worldly needs. Needs that demand that we work hard for a living in order to provide for our
families. Detours that consume our thinking with fast cars, the latest video game or just keeping up with
those who appear to have the best lives. He wants us to only be concerned about money.
Unfortunately, when we are consumed by the world, the only way God can sometimes get our attention is
when Satan grabs a hold of our lives and thrusts us into a life threatening disease, a war, an economic slow
down, or a natural disaster that takes away our trust in our own ability to fix the problem. It doesn’t even
have to happen to us personally. Instead, it may consume a close friend or family member and produce fear
by consuming us with the ‘What Ifs’ of life.
It may even be something that played out in the news when a huge company falls as a result of a
recession or even a country you never heard of before that is devastated by a tidal wave that kills thousands
of people. Whether you are physically going through it or you are an audience member, suddenly God is
making you feel compassion and caring that you never experienced before. This is a spiritual awakening
that makes you think about others rather than yourself. It makes you question the purpose of life rather than
what next big thing will make you happy.
Galatians 4: 4-7, “But when the right time finally came, God sent his own Son. He came as the son of a
human mother and lived under the Jewish Law, to redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might
become God’s sons.
To show that you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who cries out,
‘Father, my Father.’ So then, you are no longer a slave but a son. And since you are his son, God will give
you all that he has for his sons.”
When the right time comes; we will begin to understand the kind of world we live in and how it is unjust.
The Spirit teaches us as we mature spiritually in our thinking from the things we see, to the things our family,
friends, and even the world experiences in order for us to learn. The more things we go through, changes us
into different people. We become sons of the living God, caring and loving all those who are suffering
because of the sin in their lives.
God knows what we are experiencing is hard. This is the reason why He equips us with the Holy Spirit to
pray for our needs even before we know what our need is going to be. God is always in control. He is
always prepared to run to our rescue just in time to meet our needs. But we must call upon Jesus’ name!
Galatians 4: 8&9, “In the past you did not know God, and so you were slaves of beings who are not gods.
But now that you know God-or, I should say, now that God knows you-how is it that you want to turn back to
those weak and pitiful ruling spirits? Why do you want to become their slaves all over again?”
There are people, when faced with difficult times, turn away from God and have nothing to do with Him.
These are people who blame the unseen because they can’t control sickness, disease, or anything that
comes up against them that takes more than a human’s ability to fight. This is the reason why it is so
important to understand that there are evil spirits that will turn you against God. They have the power to
influence your thinking with negative thoughts and to stop you from spiritually maturing from a disaster. We
must resist Satan and allow God to rescue us in His time after we have learned what He wants us to know.
Galatians 4: 13-15, “You remember why I preached the gospel to you the first time; it was because I was
sick. But even though my physical condition was a great trial to you, you did not despise or reject me.
Instead, you received me as you would an angel from heaven; you received me as you would Christ Jesus.
You were so happy! What has happened? I myself can say that you would have taken out your own eyes, if
you could, and given them to me.”
Our maturing, spiritually, teaches us compassion and love for those who are suffering by showing us our
need for a miracle working God. As we go through life we feel deeply so we can learn why cancer, war,
natural disasters, or anything that harms people are bad. But we also learn how God can take what is bad
and turn it into good. Cancer saves people and teaches them to reach out to the wonder working power of
God. War and natural disasters can bring out the best in people changing them because they give of
themselves or their money to support those in need. When we see a change in a person’s life for good, then
we understand how bad things can make a Godly person better.
When Satan has a foothold in a person’s life then everything that happens has an opposite effect. They
fight with doctors over cancer care. They go to war and become participates in killing innocent children and
mothers. They look at natural disasters and they are glad they don’t live in that country. Satan wants to take
every experience in life and turn it into why you should be depressed, give up and turn to suicide.
Galatians 4:19, “My dear children! Once again, just like a mother in childbirth, I feel the same kind of pain
for you until Christ’s nature is formed in you.”
Every lesson we learn in this world teaches us a Spiritual revelation that can only be formed from going
though the experience. Knowing the future of our existence would not be beneficial! We must learn little by
little as Jesus Christ brings us to spiritual maturity. If we already knew the outcome we wouldn’t be in a
teaching world. When you are in a world to learn the difference between right and wrong, you must go
through the fire.
She looked at me astonished as I explained the game of life. She had never looked at the world like a
game. Using this concept changed the way she thought giving her the freedom to let go of the ’What Ifs’ of
life. Now she understood that she was fighting against Satan and that she needed to believe that God would
protect her from him. Together we prayed for protection from Satan and asked God for His will to be done on
the earth!
